Gateway’s Vodacom Durban July Preview Fashion Show and Concert

The Vodacom Durban July Preview Fashion Show and Concert is the biggest date of the year on Gateway’s calendar. Months of planning went into putting together the VIP list, selecting fashion designers as well as the performers for the concert. It was no surprise that local and national celebrities, designers, media and business executives came out in numbers to attend the event on the 4th of July at the Wave House.

Personalities such as multitalented actress and singer, Lucia Mthiyane; Top Billing presenter, Simba Mhere; Top 12 Miss SA 2014 contestant, Julia Petersen and international actor and Mzansi’s Sexiest Man 2012, Sipho Masebe attended the event.

“The event was beautiful. I thoroughly enjoyed the fashion show, especially the Zarth segment. The performances were excellent. The Kiffness stood out for me the most, but it was DJ Fresh and DJ Euphonik that kept me on the dance floor. Gateway did an amazing job with the gift bags as well. I felt so spoilt,” says Lucia Mthiyane.

Fans of The Roger Goode Show were in their element when the show was broadcast live from the Wave House from 4pm. The Ultimix at 6 was performed live by the dance master himself, DJ Kent.

Gateway has successfully partnered with the Vodacom Durban July event for the past six years with the 2014 event being the most glamorous installment yet.

The Cotton On Foundation partners with Nelson Mandela Foundation

The Cotton On Group is thrilled to announce its philanthropic arm, the Cotton On Foundation, has entered into a groundbreaking partnership with the Nelson Mandela Foundation, demonstrating its commitment to building healthy and sustainable futures for South African communities in need.

The partnership will see the two Foundations come together to focus on areas in line with the Cotton On Foundation’s pillars of education, health, sustainability and infrastructure. These areas of focus will include four key programs that will support five schools with libraries, a food security program and toilet infrastructure, as well as a separate education-based initiative supporting women’s health in rural communities.

“We are honoured at the Nelson Mandela Foundation to be working with such a dynamic, unique and inspiring organisation that shares our same values and beliefs. Together we will have a huge impact and create positive change for the people of South Africa,” said Nelson Mandela Foundation Chief Executive Officer Sello Hatang.

The Cotton On Foundation will partner with the Nelson Mandela Foundation to deliver these programs through the sale of its products in Cotton On, Cotton On KIDS, Typo, Rubi Shoes and Cotton On Body stores across South Africa.

Established in 2007, the Cotton On Foundation believes education and opportunity hold the key to breaking the cycle of poverty and aims to build healthy and sustainable futures for communities in need, across the globe. Since arriving in Mannya six years ago the Foundation has:  created over 3,000 educational places, built healthcare centers and delivered healthcare to over 70,000 people, created water harvesting and boreholes and created over 500 jobs, through its projects.

Through its partnership with the Nelson Mandela Foundation, the Cotton On Foundation will support the following projects, which will be rolled out throughout South Africa:

The Mandela Day Libraries: will improve literacy nationwide and will be supported by the provision of educational books, librarian up-skilling and e-literacy through a further partnership with Vodacom and their “digital classroom” e-learning hubs

Toilet Infrastructure through Amalooloo:  is aimed at the reduction and ultimate elimination of pit toilet infrastructure in schools. The Cotton On Foundation will partner the rollout of such infrastructure in conjunction with the Depts. Of Education and Social Development.
