I was Featured on!

Jane Wonder || The Secret to South African Women's Amazing Skin, as featured in

Hiya everyone ♡

A few weeks ago I received an email from a lady named Lindsey. She said she was from Byrdie and wanted to know if I would help them with an article.

I was very skeptical. Why would Byrdie contact me, of all people? I am certainly not the authority when it comes to beauty blogging. Where did she get my name? Is she really from Byrdie?

So, I first checked the email address. It was lindsey.***, so that seemed legit. I then went on a little internet stalk, as one does, and found that Lindsey has written for not only Byrdie, but also for StyleCaster - these are two websites I follow religiously so I was literally jumping up and down from excitement and Skyping my best friend to share the news.

Lindsey asked me for help on an article about skincare 'secrets' from South Africa, something native to our country that isn't obvious to their (mostly) American readers. I assumed, with my many concerns, that she must have contacted a few local beauty bloggers and in order to be featured I better respond a quickly as possible with a stellar recommendation.

I sent her some info on Fynbos, which is native to the west coast of South Africa, and two days later she posted the article! I almost threw up when I saw my name and blog name on, my heart was pounding and the feeling of 'about to pass out' was upon me.

This is definitely a career highlight for me, I hope that you share the happiness with me.

You can read the article here.

{TRAVEL} 7 Must-Visit Stores on Oxford Street, London

Hiya everyone

London is one of my fave cities in the world. With my sister living in London, I visit quite often. Being the shopper that I am, Oxford Street is a mecca to me. Whilst we have been lucky enough for some of these stores to be brought to South Africa, we still can't beat the sheer size and ranges available at these flagship stores in one of the busiest high streets in the world.

As you may already know, Foschini is running a competition to win a trip to LONDON FASHION WEEK in February next year! Winning is so simple so I thought I would remind you of how to enter and also tell you the BEST shops to visit whilst you visit London when you win the competition (positive thinking, people!).

Jane Wonder || WIN a trip to London with Foschini #BestDayOfMyLife

Now, onto the shopping part... I have been shopping in Oxford Street so many times that I now reckon I am adequately equipped to tell you the BEST shops running down this busy street. Keep in mind that there are probably 5 H&Ms (easily) down the street, lucky for you I know the best one!

I will give you the address of each of them, a note on why that store is the best, a pic of the store off Google Maps so that you can recognise it when you visit, and it's position on the map. How handy is that?

Hiya everyone ♡

When L.A. Girl bought out their lip paints and matte lipgloss, everyone went crazy! They were selling out of Dischem faster than a Black Friday sale. After visiting three Dischem stores, I managed to get my hands on 4 of the Glazed Lip Paints.

Jane Wonder || #ThinkPink with Foschini + GIVEAWAY

Hiya everyone

As you may know, I am a Foschini brand ambassador, also known as a Fashion Friend. You may have also seen me in the Foschini store windows throughout the month of October.

Foschini ran a campaign over October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. We encouraged you to #ThinkPink and to #PledgePink too. But to be breast cancer aware doesn't confine itself to just one month a year, we need to continue to #ThinkPink - and that's where the giveaway comes in...

What's in my MRP Shopping Basket

Hiya everyone ♡

I have been on a shopping embargo for the last 2 months, well for clothes at least. When I saw that Poppy Delevingne released a capsule collection with MRP I thought I should check it out. And I finally saw my beloved staring back at me. I have been wanting a sleeveless blazer for months but couldn't find one that I could actually afford - in comes my friend Poppy.

I also really needed a few work and play tops. I have been feeling incredibly uninspired with my wardrobe lately. With my self-tan routine being, well, non-existent I also refuse to wear skirts and dresses. WHO has time to shave and self-tan these days???

So, jeans it is. But now what top to wear with it? Which shoes? The strugs are real, people! (just kidding)

I also needed some simple sandals for the (very) hot days that are approaching. With so many variations of the most complicated gladiator sandals out there, I was having trouble finding something simple and easy to put on. Luckily a found a couple of options at MRP.

So here it is, my online shopping basket that will hopefully convert to MRP delivery in a few days, I am sweating waiting for pay day!

Details on items below. Which one piece would you get? That longer, side-slit grey top (my fave, you'll know if you follow me on Snapchat) is calling my name!

Currently Testing ♡ October 2015

Jane Wonder || Currently Testing Beauty Products

Hiya everyone

I thought I would update everyone on the products I am currently testing. I often feel very under-qualified to review products, especially when it's comparing to other products. Like, if I test a mascara and say it's amazing - I haven't used every mascara on earth so maybe it's not that great and I only think so because it's one of the most amazing ones that I have tried...

So, please keep in mind, that while I get the opportunity to test and use many products I most certainly am not an expert. I am giving my opinions on products, and you are free to agree and disagree. I hope that I have readers that trust my judgement, as I do with a handful of bloggers, and will only have positive experiences with my recommendations :)

Anyways, inferiority-complex aside, these are the products I am trying this month. I have started using a keener eye when testing beauty products so that I can review them the best way possible...

Best Dressed at the 2015 Emmys

Hiya everyone, again! ♡

A mentioned in my "Orange is the new Red Carpet" earlier, here are my picks for best dressed.

Again, no spoilers on winners of awards or plot-line spoilers.

Enjoy the read

Orange is the new Red Carpet

Hiya everyone! Happy Monday ♡

In the early hours of this morning (South African time) the 67th Emmy Awards took place in a sweltering Los Angeles. Now, if you haven't heard who the winners are - never fear. No spoilers!

There weren't many that really wowed me, but there were a good deal of well dressed. Whilst going through the galleries (I need to check about 7 different websites to see if I have looked through all of the looks, get the best pictures, and see if I can find all of the designers) I noticed a recurring theme or two.

I noticed that I was liking a lot of the outfits from the Orange is the New Black ensemble. So, I did a whole post on their outfits! I am still deciding, but I think Laura Prepon may have been my best dressed of the night

I will be doing another post later today on my other best dressed ladies.

How was your best dressed out of the OITNB crew?

Top 9 Looks from Tory Birch's NYFW Show

Hiya everyone ♡

New York Fashion Week is coming to an end soon so I thought I would do a few more posts of my fave looks.

This evening I am showcasing Tory Burch's Spring '16 RTW collection.

I am loving the colour combinations, the white and blue with hints of orange (blue's complimentary colour) and mustard are fab - and the touches or foiling are gorge too!

Please comment and let me know your thoughts! One thing I don't like is that the models look absolutely devastated with life!

If you would like to see the whole collection, then click here.

Top 9 Looks from Bagdley Mischka's NYFW Show

Hiya everyone ♡

As I mentioned yesterday, I have been checking out a few shows from New York Fashion Week. Here is another installment of "Top 9 Looks".

This is Badgley Mischka's RTW Spring 2016 line and is filled with floral and butterfly prints, lace, and white. I am really loving the whimsical and ethereal feel of all of the dresses.

Which is your fave?

Top 9 Looks from Lauren Conrad's NYFW Show

Hiya everyone ♡

I've been checking out a few New York Fashion Week shows and thought I would share my top looks. Lauren Conrad, from Laguna Beach and The City fame, collaborated with Kohls to launch her very own "LC" range. This year she showcased her latest ready-to-wear line at NYFW.

Just in case you didn't know, a ready-to-wear range is just that - yank it off the rail and wear as is. What some don't understand is that most runway shows are showcasing designers design ability as a work of art as opposed to something that someone will necessarily wear on the streets. I always used to think "who would ever wear that??" but I have now come to the realisation that it's ART we are looking at. I also love how the clothes, accessories, hair and makeup all tell a story - it's so much more intricate to what I used to think.

So, have a look at my picks below and tell me which is your fave!

Tamara Chérie Dyson for MRP

Hiya everyone

This week is the busiest for me at work and I was with family this past weekend, so I apologise that my first post for the week was on a Wednesday afternoon. I am working on some really cool content so keep your eyes peeled (perhaps even sign up by email to the right #justsaying).

Tamara Chérie Dyson was the winner of the 2014 Elle Rising Star Design Award. She beat out 6 other finalists to be crowned the winner of this accolade. Part of her prize was to design a range from MRP which was released last week.

I have decided to take pieces from her range and style a few outfits for you, I hope you like them!

Please let me know below which outfit is your fave!

Best dressed at the 2015 VMAs

Hiya everyone! Happy Monday

I was less than impressed with the fashion on the red carpet at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards that happened just a few short hours ago.

I was just a little 'bleh'. Celebs can really have fun with their outfits at a music event like this, much like the Grammys, but some went classic/pretty and the others barely wore anything at all.

Perhaps it is just my taste, fashion is subjective after all, but wearing mesh and strategically placed tassels isn't really fashion to me. Going basically naked in public just isn't for me...

Anyway, here are some looks that gave me a little smile whilst scrolling through all the looks this morning. I have saved best male and female for the end.

{OOTD} Stonehenge

Hiya everyone! I hope that you're having a wonderful week so far ♡

I stumbled across a few outfit shots, the last that I have from my English road trip a while back. There are two items that I want to give a shout out to in this post:

Denim skirt - it's back, people! I can't say that I have seen anyone (respectable) wearing a denim skirt for about 6 or so years. I had about 4 when I was at varsity way back when. Denim skirts are now back with a revenge and looking super hot.

Multi-strand necklaces - my new fave accessory! I recommend getting one that has a few strands connected by one clasp. Things get a messy when you're wearing three separate necklaces.

{TRAVEL} Jane wanders to Cornwall

Hiya everyone!

Today I am going to tell you about the very interesting third day of our trip around England. We took a three hour drive from Lyme Regis to Cornwall where we had a few stops to fit in during one day.

{TRAVEL} Jane wanders to Lyme Regis

Hiya everyone!

Today, let's talk about the second leg of my England roadtrip. We drove 4 hours from Brighton to Lyme Regis, a tiny town in West Dorset that is known for the fossils found in its cliffs and beaches.

On the way we dropped by Chichester. My best friend lived there whilst she lived in the UK and I couldn't resist driving through. It was a very short trip, we grabbed a takeaway coffee at Costa, but it was a beautiful little town.

It was 3pm when we eventually arrived in Lyme Regis. We dropped our bags off at our cute little hotel called Mariners (you can read my positive review here) and went to the sea side.

{OOTD} Breezy

Hiya everyone!

I am back with another outfit post from when I was in England. After Brighton we travelled to Lyme Regis which is in West Dorset. It's a tiny town which I don't think is visited all that much. We wandered along the pebble beach to go find a pub for their famous fish and chips.

I am 100% obsessed with this grey, slit skirt that I got from an online store called OnTrend in South Africa. My friend came across the site and sent me there immediately. They have a very cool range of womenswear, menwear, jewellery, accessories and swimwear. They are based in Cape Town, but Julia happily helped me get my delivery to Durban. I love getting good customer service, and this most certainly ticked all the boxes!

{TRAVEL} Jane wanders to Brighton

Hiya everyone!

As you may know, I was in England for 10 days last week and the one before. I had a fantastic time and was so happy to stay with my sister and spend time with her and my father.

To celebrate her 26th birthday, we did a little roadtrip to Brighton, across to Land's End and up to Bath. Today I will tell you about my Brighton experience.

Brighton is in East Sussex and is located due south of London. Below is a map of southern England and where we traveled to.

The arrived in Brighton at about 1pm and dropped off our bags at our hotel. We stayed at The Imperial which I sadly cannot recommend, the staff were rude and very unhelpful. You can read my review here.

Next, my dad, sister and I took a walk down to the boardwalk and took a stroll to the famous Brighton Pier. I convinced my sister to take outfit pics of me with the beach huts :)

After visiting the pier, trying to win Ashleigh an Eeyore in a claw machine, and getting a banana and Nutella crepe, we made our way to the Royal Pavilion.

Essentially, the Royal Pavilion is a building that once accommodated the royal family. The prince of England bought the "modest erstwhile farmhouse" and converted it to his own, rather bizarre, style. The outside looks like the Taj Mahal and the inside is opulently Chinese. Weird combo, right? Later on, during the war, the house was converted into a hospital for Indian fighters in the war. Today, the building belongs to the city of Brighton and is used as the number 1 tourist attraction. You can read more here. We weren't allowed to take photos, sadly.

After this, we went for a stroll down the high street. I imagined (read: hoped) bumping into Zoella or Gaby and becoming their best friend ;)

We went to Shakespeare's Head for dinner. People - you MUST GO HERE if you're ever in Brighton! They are said to have the best bangers and mash in Brighton and they did not disappoint. These were the best B&M I have ever had! There is a choice of about 8 sausages, 8 mash option, 6 sauces, and additional 4 sides. So, each of us could make up our own meal!

We had an early night, being tired after the drive and all the exploring, and knew we had another long drive the next day.

More about the trip next week!

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone! xoxo

{OOTD} Beautiful Brighton

Hiya everyone!

I am fresh back from my trip to England for the last couple weeks. I tried to do as many outfit posts as possible, but turns out I couldn't wear any of my skirts or pretty tops as it was too chilly, even in mid-summer! I ended up wearing my Converse and only took 3 pairs of jeans and 3 jumpers.

Brighton was the first trip in my family road-trip down southern and up western England. I would like to do a post on every town we went to and what we did.

Here is what I wore for a little stroll down the beach to the Brighton Pier.

Have you ever been to Brighton before?

Beauty Buys: The Body Shop ♥

Camilla Jane || Beauty Buys - The Body Shop

Hiya everyone. I hope that you're having a wonderful week so far

I have mostly been blogging about fashion over the years. It's something that comes second nature to me and doesn't intimidate me at all. On the other hand, I am a beauty hoarder and can't get enough of reading beauty blogs and watching beauty YouTube videos. Despite this, the whole beauty blogging idea has intimidated me as far as applying theory to my experience and views.

I have picked up a few things along the way, be it tips from others or a discovery through trial and error. I am excited to now start focusing on more beauty-related things on the blog, here goes...

I popped into The Body Shop at Gateway the other day to grab a new cleanser. After a bit of browsing, the very helpful shop assistant informed me that if I have a The Body Shop card that I qualify for the 3-for-2 special. She got me guys - I grabbed a few other items on my way to the counter.

I am a big fan of buying natural products and The Body Shop ticks those boxes for me. Here are their values below:

Camilla Jane || Beauty Buys - The Body Shop

I have been using oil cleansers for about 3 months now and I am obsessed! I had previously used the Dermalogica Precleanse and loved how it really removed the 'grime' off of my face and made my skin feel smooth and moisturised (which often does not happen with soap-based cleansers). I read on the All Dolled Up blog how Camilla (name twin) loved this cleanser and decided to try it for myself. I. LOVE. IT.

The pump ensures that I don't overdo it when I pour the product into my hand. I am a serial offender when it comes to using way too much product, and wasting really makes me sad. Apply one pump of this beautifully scented (and calming-effect) oil into your hands, rub over a dry face until it feels like you have dislodged your makeup off your eyelashes/skin/lips, then add a drop or two of water to emulsify it and wash off. One application is just enough. As I've said, it really makes my skin feeling clean and silky, but hasn't stripped off the layer of natural oil off my face. Oil removes oil, so it's absolutely perfect to wash off day-old makeup. The Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil retails for R150.

Camilla Jane || Beauty Buys - The Body Shop

The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil (retails for R75) is a holy grail, everyday-use kind of product for me. Tea tree oil has anti-bacterial properties and acts as an immuno-stimulant to increase the body's ability to fight off any infections. I have been battling with acne-prone skin for about a year now and whenever I have a blemish I reach for the tea tree oil right away. I either dab it directly onto the blemish, or I add a few drops to my face wash and my moisturiser. I even add a few drops to my toothpaste as it fights off/treats gum infections, mouth ulcers, throat infections and tonsillitis. VERY IMPORTANT: Be very careful if you add it to your toothpaste. Unfortunately, sometimes “natural” is confused with “non-toxic” or “non-poisonous”. Tea tree oil, like many other “natural” substances, can indeed be poisonous if used in the wrong way, especially if swallowed.

Camilla Jane || Beauty Buys - The Body Shop

These are the two products that I grabbed because of the 3-for-2 deal. Not only do I love using oil for cleansing my face, it's also incredibly important for ensuring my face doesn't dry out. I am a huge fan of serums so this little Vitamin E Overnight Serum-in-Oil (28ml, retails for R155) really caught my eye. Remember; dehydrated skin 'cracks' and causes wrinkles! Always rather have oily skin than dry skin!

This Vitamin E Nourishing Night Cream has rich wheat germ oil to replenish and revitalise skin while you sleep. It helps replenish antioxidant and moisture levels overnight, when the skin is at its most receptive. My skin feels incredibly smooth when I wake up in the morning. The oil seeps into my skin beautifully and doesn't make my face feel like an oil slick. I can't give much input about the long-term effects, only using it for about a week, but so far so good. It retails for R155.

Please pop me a comment below if you liked this post or found it useful? I hope to do more of these soon.
